Candidate ID Requirements

The first and last name used for registration must match exactly with the names on the two forms of identification (ID) presented on the day of the exam. Both IDs must be issued by the country in which the candidate is testing. If you do not have a qualifying primary ID issued in the country where you are testing, you will need to present an International Travel Passport and a secondary ID.

CompTIA requires two forms of valid, unexpired, original IDs:

• Primary ID: A government-issued ID with your name, a recent recognizable photo, and a signature.
• Secondary ID: A form of ID containing at least your name and signature or name and a recent recognizable photo.

Testing Center ID Policy

Primary IDs

• International Travel Passport
• Driver’s License
• Military ID (including spouse and dependents)
• Identification card (national/state/province ID)
• Alien Registration Card (Green Card, Permanent Resident Visa)
• Local Language ID (if issued by the country of the test location)
• Blue Japanese Health Card (valid in Japan)

Secondary IDs

• Any ID containing at least name and signature or name and recent recognizable photo

OnVUE Online Proctored ID Policy

When taking your CompTIA certification exam online with OnVUE, there are specific rules for acceptable IDs:

• Primary ID: International Travel Passport, Driver’s License, Identification Card, Alien Registration Card, Local Language ID
• Secondary ID: Any ID containing name and signature or name and recent recognizable photo

Note: Some IDs, like U.S. military IDs, are restricted and cannot be used for online testing verification.

Special ID Allowances and Exceptions

In certain situations, exceptions to the standard ID policy are made:

• Expired IDs: Expired IDs are not acceptable unless the candidate provides another valid ID.
• European Union Candidates: EU candidates can present valid, unexpired EU cards.
• Japan: Employee or student ID (with a recognizable photo) may be accepted as a primary ID when accompanied by a valid Blue Japanese Health Card.

Minor/Student ID Requirements

For candidates under 18 (minors), a school ID can be used as a primary ID. However, the minor must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with a valid government-issued ID. The parent or guardian must sign the login sheet to verify the minor’s identity.
